Regardless of the advances in modern medicine, we recognize that our Little Miss and I almost didn’t make it one year ago. Hubby and I still can’t entirely grasp how God literally worked miracle after miracle during that time. Some may believe in just “coincidences” but that can’t come close to explaining our experience last Fall.It’s hard to imagine that our “little” girl weighed only 2 lbs 8 oz when she was born. Now she’s over 20 lbs! They say most babies triple their birth weight in the first year. Obviously Little Miss doesn’t like to merely meet a milestone, she has to excel.
While we recognize that there may still be small bridges to cross as a result of our little girl's prematurity, Jesus has proven beyond a doubt that He has us in His hands. No matter what, as Pastor Chuck Smith says, “God’s past faithfulness demands that we put our trust in Him”. How true that is. The trials we went through a year ago have been more than worth the blessing of our daughter.
“The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him.” (Psalm 34:7)
(For those of you wanting to give a birthday gift, how about considering a small donation to the March of Dimes instead? They are key to research related to premature babies. We would be so blessed by a donation in her honor).

I know I am kind of a long lost, far away friend, but I remember how worried I was about you and Bekah at this time last year, and I am so grateful that you are both doing so well -- she is amazing and so healthy. What a blessing. Love the verse you shared -- such a wonderful image of angels "encamped" around us. Love the suggestion to donate to March of Dimes. Sending my love to you all -- maybe we'll get to meet Bekah sometime soon :)

Hi, you do not know me but I was praying for you last year when you were so sick!
I am a good friend of Alicia and of Jacki (mom of new baby Emma). Alicia asked me to pray for you last year because the previous year or so prior, she was praying that I would live as well as my little baby girl, Dacia Grace.
I love the way that Lord orchestrates our friendships and acquaintances in such a way that
"we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." (II Cor 1:4).
I am encouraged to see such a great witness and report of how you and your dear Bekah are doing.
My dear miracle baby will turn 3 the day after Christmas (also her daddy and my dear hubby's birthday). She has multiplied her birth weight by almost 10'xs! She is now almost (not quite) a size 3. Still very low on the height and weight charts but on them nonetheless!
(I also see that we have another commonality. I grew up in a Christian & Missionary Alliance church in Missouri. I graduated from the C&MA college in Minnesota. Not alot of people here in Portland are familiar with them.)
